As the official governing body for the sport of Cornhole, the ACA is responsible for setting and enforcing the game’s official rules. Here’s a rundown of the official Cornhole rules from the ACA:

1. Equipment – Each player uses 4 bags of a single color, with bags weighing between 14 and 16 ounces and measuring 6 inches by 6 inches. The Cornhole board is a rectangular wooden platform measuring 48 inches by 24 inches, with a hole measuring 6 inches in diameter and centered 9 inches from the top of the board.
2. Set-up – The two Cornhole boards should be set up 27 feet apart from the front of the board to the front of the board, and players should stand behind the front of their board when throwing. The game is typically played in rounds, with each player throwing 4 bags per round.
3. Scoring – Bags that land on the board are worth 1 point, while bags that go through the hole are worth 3 points. The goal of the game is to score 21 points, and the first player or team to reach 21 points wins.
4. Foul Shots – If a player commits a foul, such as stepping over the foul line or throwing a bag out of turn, the opposing team has the option to make them take a foul shot. The player must throw the bag from behind the foul line, and if they miss the board, the opposing team scores 1 point.
5. Cancelling – If both players or teams score the same number of points in a round, the scores cancel each other out and no points are awarded.
6. Winning – The game can be won by scoring 21 points at any time, but if both players or teams are tied at 21 points, the game continues until one player or team scores 2 more points than the other.
